Hospital Chapel, Chaplain and Kaumatua

Due to the earthquake in Christchurch on Tuesday 22 February 2011, at this stage our Chapel has been de-commissioned.

Christopher is available for counselling, prayer and services (including bedside) to all patients and relatives.  You can contact him through our Main Reception or ask a member of staff.

Mrs Terehia Kipa, our Kaumatua, is available for advice, support and advocacy for all patients and their whanau. Please ask a member of staff to contact her.


  
Communication

Mail

There is a post box at Reception.  This is cleared Monday to Friday at 4.00 pm.


Public Telephone

A pay phone is located on the ground floor lift lobby, Canon Wilford Wing.


Telephones

All rooms have telephones. Toll calls must be placed through the Hospital switchboard and made collect or price required. Dial ‘0’ for Reception. Toll calls cannot be made between 10.30 pm and 7.30 am.


Television / Radio / DVD / Internet Access

Television is provided in all rooms. These sets have a video and DVD channel, arrangements can be made with Reception to play DVDs from our library. Sky is available in most rooms. There is a selection of radio channels available. Internet Access is available for all patients bringing in their own PC.



Lounge and Gardens, Reading Material, Smoking

Lounge and Gardens

The patients / visitors lounge, situated at the end of each ward, is available for patients and visitors who would like a change of environment. Please let staff know if you do leave the ward.


Reading Material / Newspaper

The Press will automatically be delivered to all patients in Hospital and those checking in at 7.00 am Monday to Saturday.

Magazines and The Press can be purchased from The Pharmacy @ St George’s.
This is located on the ground floor, Canon Wilford Wing.


Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in patient rooms. St George’s Hospital strongly discourages smoking. However, if you are a smoker, arrangements can be made with our nursing staff.
