Redevelopment

In 1989 the Society of St George’s Hospital commenced discussions on the rebuilding of the St George’s Medical Centre site to significantly modernise and expand the services.


The St George’s vision was to create a one-stop site, offering a comprehensive range of hospital and medical services for the convenience of patients, medical specialists, surgeons, visitors and allied medical professionals.

On completion of the stages to date there is a wide range of consulting rooms housing medical practitioners, X-ray facilities, Laboratory services, Pharmacy, Cafés and Car Park Building.

Purpose built Day Surgery facility opened









1995


Milford Chambers, the first of our consulting room buildings opened









2000


Hiatt Chambers, the next of our consulting room buildings opened









2002



Canon Wilford Wing commissioned, features includes 2 surgical wards, 4 operating theatres, main recovery, underground car park, consulting rooms, café, pharmacy, laboratory









2003


Established Cardiac Service (Surgery, ICU, Cath Lab)

2008





Car Park & Consulting Room Building (Leinster Chambers) commissioned. To make maximum use of the land while providing much needed additional car parking space this new building will provide several levels of car parking, one underground. Adjourning this building, an additional 30,000 sq ft of consulting space - almost doubling the present consulting room capacity on the site.

2009








Establishment of St George’s Cancer Institute.

This is a state-of-the-art, purpose built Cancer Care Centre at 131 Leinster Road, next to St George’s Day Surgery  offers a comprehensive cancer care service. 

Radiation therapy treatment using the latest linear accelerator technologies commenced in March 2010, whilst our Chemotherapy service has been in operation since 2009.
