About St George's Hospital

St George’s Hospital is well known throughout Canterbury and over the years, staff have helped many thousands of people.


Patients always come first at St George’s Hospital. Their visit must be as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

The environment was an important influence in the design and on-going redevelopment of the St George’s Hospital site. All the new buildings have been created with the Merivale precinct in mind and have also taken into account the design features of The Heritage Building.

As a charitable trust we put any surpluses back into patient care and the development of the hospital.
